Getting Down and Dirty (Camp Infinity pt.2)

Day 2 in Kluang was definitely an eye-opening and interesting experience. We made our way to Koref where we had the opportunity to try planting rice in the paddy fields. Initially, I was kind of apprehensive about it as the murky water with the chunky fertiliser looked really disgusting to me. Nonetheless, I went down to the field and tried planting. I have to say that definitely this isn't an easy job especially when you have to constantly bend down to plant the rice. Furthermore, the fertiliser was so thick and would constantly make me sink as I walked in it. It definitely taught me to really appreciate my food more and not waste even a single grain of rice.

We also got to try the low-elements which consisted of logs and net rope climbing which was extremely fun! Although I came across some difficulties while attempting to climb over the rope but at the same time it taught me a really important lesson to stay positive and keep trying. Be determined and you will conquer it. And I did. I'm sure even though the elements were challenging but everyone had great takeaways from it. It also heartened me when I saw how a friend was struggling at the different elements and apart from the constant cheering from everyone, another classmate actually went the extra mile to go a second time on the elements just to get to her friend and support her. I felt that the action she took was very commendable. It definitely proved that there was team-spirit and everyone was motivating one another to face their fears and conquer the obstacles. It enabled us to really step out of our comfort zone and try new things and ultimately allowed us to grow as a person.
We also went water rafting where we had to sit on these bamboo rafts and use the oar to paddle about 10 metres. This activity really taught us how to work as a team and strategise the best way to ensure the raft didn't capsize. We had to rearrange ourselves based on our weights and really paddle in sync to get to the other side and back. This was a good experience because despite the countless times of failure, we don't stop and complain but rather we think of ways to improve the situation and get back on our feet real quick. I personally believe that this is something that can be taken away and remembered throughout our lives because even when we go out into the working world, there will be times when we encounter failure, but does that mean we give up and complain? No. We persevere and think of other solutions to solve the problem.
Lastly, I would just like to say that over the past 3 days, I have seen how everyone in the class has grown in their own ways and I'm really happy for each and every one of them. Although we will only be together for another 2 months or so but truly, I believe that the first class you meet in NP is really the class that you will be closest to the most. I will always remember the singing sessions on the bus, the conversations we've had with each other and the bonds that were forged and strengthened over these past 3 days. Also, a special thanks to my ECG advisor, Mr Ramani. I really learnt a lot from him these past 3 days, he sure is one of the most senior lecturers in NP and has gone through so much! I'm glad he shared with us personal stories and of his students and also teaching us to cultivate good moral values. He really is the advisor to beat. Haha. To be honest, I really thought Mr Ramani was quite a scary and strict teacher (not that he isn't) but these past 3 days showed me another side to him. hahaha. But I am glad he is strict with us because as growing teenagers entering adulthood soon, he expects high standards from us which I can totally agree with. I am truly grateful to God for blessing me with the bestest people and advisor :)
This is my overall takeaway from camp infinity and concludes my blogging experience for this camp! #FMSHUAT! I hope you guys enjoyed reading this and I will catch you again in my next blogpost!
